Holistic, Integrative, and Mind-Body Psychotherapy
Therapy for the experiences that leave you feeling destabilized, misunderstood, or simply not believed.
Welcome to Cecily Longo, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
Maybe you're recovering from a relationship that left you questioning your own reality. Maybe you're trying to make sense of what happened to your body after a medication or medical experience. Maybe you're grieving the end of a relationship, struggling to support someone you love through mental illness or addiction, or trying to build a life around chronic pain or health problems you never expected to have.
You may be exhausted from explaining yourself. You may feel misunderstood, dismissed, or stuck in survival mode. You may look like you're functioning on the outside while privately struggling with anxiety, grief, anger, fear, hypervigilance, or a profound sense that your life has changed in ways other people don't seem to understand.
You don't have to minimize what you've been through in order to make it easier for someone else to understand.
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in both psychotherapy and mind-body work. I work with the emotional and psychological impact of difficult experiences while also recognizing that trauma, chronic stress, illness, pain, and other overwhelming experiences can affect the nervous system, body, relationships, identity, and sense of safety.
When what you've been through doesn't fit neatly into a diagnosis
I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship loss, women's health and identity changes, chronic illness and pain, workplace stress, and the emotional strain of supporting a loved one with mental health or addiction challenges.
I have particular experience working with people recovering from emotional abuse and narcissistic relationships, including the confusion, self-doubt, hypervigilance, and loss of trust in yourself that can follow them.
I also provide therapy alongside psychiatric medication tapering or discontinuation and support for people dealing with iatrogenic harm or protracted withdrawal. I understand that these experiences can involve much more than psychological distress. Physical symptoms, nervous-system disruption, fear, uncertainty, and feeling dismissed by healthcare providers can all become part of the experience.
My role is not to tell you whether you should take, stop, or change a medication. My role is to support you psychologically through the process you're choosing, understand what you're experiencing, and help you navigate the emotional impact without reducing everything you're experiencing to “anxiety.”
Therapy can also provide a place to process relationship loss, rebuild your sense of self after an unhealthy relationship, establish boundaries with complicated family members, cope with the realities of chronic illness, or find ways to care for yourself while supporting someone you love.

How Therapy Helps
Gain clarity and self-awareness
Therapy helps you understand how past experiences and unconscious patterns influence current choices. With greater awareness, you can break free from cycles that no longer serve you and make conscious, healthy decisions.
Build coping skills and improve communication
Using evidence-based approaches like DBT, CBT, and ACT, therapy provides practical tools for managing anxiety, depression, and overwhelming emotions while strengthening relationships and communication skills.
Process trauma gently and effectively
Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy offers a safe, nonjudgmental way to explore different “parts” of yourself — like the inner critic or the avoidant protector — so you can integrate these experiences and feel more at ease within yourself.
Reconnect with mind/body awareness
Somatic therapy focuses on how stress, trauma, and emotions live in the nervous system. By tuning into the body, you can release tension, feel more present, and rebuild a sense of safety and control.
Additional Modalities
Emotional Freedom Technique Acupressure Tapping (EFT Tapping)
EFT Tapping combines elements of behavioral therapy and traditional Chinese medicine by tapping with your fingertips or applying acupressure on pre-designated, specific acupoints. Consistent research on EFT shows up to a 43 % reduction cortisol and other stress hormones from your nervous system, shifting the body from overwhelm into calm. It can be practiced as a self-help tool or used in session for deeper healing.
In 2017, both Kaiser Permanente and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs approved EFT as an evidence-based treatment for PTSD, anxiety, and depression.
Visit the EFT Tapping page on this website for details about training, experience, and practical tips for using this method effectively. Visit EFTuniverse.com and TheTapppingSolution.com to read more about the research behind EFT.

Symbolic Imagery Sessions
For those drawn to a Jungian-inspired approach, sessions may incorporate artwork, imagery, symbolism, and metaphor to bring deeper insight and clarity to a presenting issue or life circumstance. In April 2023, Cecily Longo completed a CEU course and became a Certified Tarotpy® Practitioner, trained by Lauren Z. Schneider, LMFT.
While the name includes the word tarot, the Tarotpy method is a trauma-informed, psychotherapeutic process — not prediction or fortune-telling — and can be especially powerful for exploring dreamwork and connecting symbolic material to everyday life.
Curious to see how Symbolic Imagery sessions work? You can find full details on the Symbolic Imagery Sessions page, listed under Healing Tools in the navigation menu. You can also discover more info on the Services page.
Coaching
You can work with me as an EFT Tapping Coach, or receive a Symbolic Imagery/Tarotpy Session, outside of being a psychotherapy client as well! However, there are some crucial distinctions to keep in mind when considering Coaching vs. Therapy, and knowing which option is right for you. Please see the Services page for more detailed information. And as always, feel free to reach out if you have questions.
